BlackBerry Empowering woman through Mobile Technology

Eight esteemed women, led by Alicia Keys, will select up to ten recipients from over 500 applicants to receive full four-year tuition scholarships in STEM-related fields

Globally, women are vastly under-represented in technology fields.  To help attract more women to our industry and address this massive gender gap, BlackBerry® is championing the next generation of women leaders in mobile computing as they advance their careers in this highly-competitive industry.

The BlackBerry® Scholars Program, announced in May by Alicia Keys, BlackBerry’s creative director, is a global four-year scholarship program for outstanding women entering their first year of undergraduate study at an accredited college or university. The Program is designed to help drive the number of women engaged in mobile computing and related science, technology, engineering and math fields.

We are pleased to announce that in this first year of the program, we received over 500 applications from women across 43 countries over the two month application period. From this group, up to ten talented and passionate young women will be chosen to receive full tuition scholarships.

A panel of inspirational and accomplished women leaders in this space will choose the scholars based on their academic merit and passion for entering the mobile computing industry. This panel, headed by Alicia Keys, includes:

·         Barbara Stymiest, Chairperson, BlackBerry (Canada)

·         Shinta W. Dhanuwardoyo, Founder, Bubu.com; Managing Partner, Nusantara Ventures (Indonesia)

·         Delphine Ernotte-Cunci, Executive Director, Orange (France)

·         Linda D. Hallman, Executive Director and CEO, American Association of University Women (USA)

·         Sara Martinez-Tucker, President and CEO, National Math and Science Initiative (USA)

·         Belinda Parmar, Founder and CEO, Lady Geek (UK)

·         Maria Teresa Ruiz, Astronomer (Chile)

In addition to providing full, four-year course tuition, BlackBerry® will also offer mentorship and professional opportunities to each of the scholars. Selected scholars are expected to be announced on the 31st July.

Bauhaus Urban Night: Cheap Monday Launch

Bauhaus is inviting us for an Urban Night, a night of cocktails, fun, prizes & surprises that will be held at Bauhaus Abreeza this July 26,2013.

 Bauhaus Urban Night Paprbag Postr

All hip folks are invited to purchase their very own Cheap Monday canvas bag and hang around to design and personalize it the way they want. Prominent people in the fashion industry will also be joining the bag designing activity. The proceeds of this event will go to Dire Husi Initiatives Inc., a youth organization and creative social enterprise that serves as an artisan collective, a band of world musicians, and as advocates of fair trade.

June 15-16 at Corte De Las Palmas of Alabang Town Center, southerners can design the day away and enjoy a Sharpie freedom wall to scribble on.

June 29-30 at the 4th floor cinema lobby of TriNoma, enjoy a whole day of tote bag designing and free digital nail art from 4pm onwards.

July 12-14, the caravan will take place at Bratpack of Greenbelt 5. A culminating “Cheap Party” will be held on the 13th. Guests can enjoy art installations, great music, and cocktails.

The final leg will be held at the Abreeza Mall in Davao on July 27-28. Artsy individuals can express their talents and show what they’ve got.

One of the objectives of the Urban Night is to launch the Cheap Monday Vignette that will hold place at the ground floor of Abreeza Mall (near Debenhams).

It is a decorate-your-canvass-bags-for-a-cause kind of event.

The people behind Cheap Monday were a bunch of dreamers who had the guts to believe in their craft. They are proof that as long as creativity, passion, and ingenuity run through you, you will make it big. Be a part of this exciting event and celebrate the sweet goodness of art while helping others achieve their artistic endeavors.

The Primer Group of Companies, Asia’s next retail giant, is the exclusive distributor of Cheap Monday in the Philippines. Cheap Monday is available at Bauhaus Shangri-La Mall, Bauhaus TriNoma, Bauhaus Abreeza Davao, and Bauhaus Alabang Town Center.
