Cronuts has grown a huge number of fans not just in New York but also in the Philippines, it was first made available in Manila. As many different cronuts are offered in Manila, with a number of specialty pastry shops selling it like hotcakes, the price ranges of around almost a hundred and up. With different flavors made available, curious foodies have to line-up or reserve a day ahead to get their share of this pastry. A combination between Croissant and Donuts= Cronuts. Here in Davao, Cafe France is the first one who brought Cronuts or what they call French Donuts back in France. I was excited to try this pastry that everyone was crazy about. Curious, I was planning to try it in Manila, on my next trip to the metro. Luckily, Cafe France brought Cronuts to Davao, was really happy to finally have a bite of this pastry.
This French Cronuts are available in 3 Flavors which are the Lemon Custard, Salted Caramel & Classic Chocolate. Among the 3, I would personally recommend the Classic Choco as it is their best-seller and the Salted Caramel, as I am not a fan of custards. As I took a bite of the Classic Chocolate cronuts, I immediately experienced the overflowing chocolate goodness of this Cronuts. I would say that it is somehow similar to more on a croussiant than of a donut. The texture is more like a croissant minus the chip from croissants. Since its more chewy, you would not notice if you had consume a piece. Though its really oily, I was a bit guilty consuming a 1/4 piece of each flavors. It is priced at P99 each.
(L-R: Lemon Custard, Chocolate Classic & Salted Caramel) @ P99 each
Lemon Custard (what’s inside) a slice – soft and not too tangy. but the top part was a bit sweet for my taste.
the Classic Chocolate was this good.. messy yet so good! 🙂 Definitely a MUST TRY!
The Salted Caramel was also good, not too sweet and not too salty.
Cafe France also serves this 2 new snacks on their menu which are the dark chocolate bun & their pizza’s, the Vegetarian Pizza has tomatoes, button mushrooms,
Vegetarian Pizza @ P115 -has button mushrooms, tomatoes and cheese, its just simple yet flavorful! a MUST TRY!
Hawaiian Pizza @ P115 – has pineapple, ham & cheese- was a play of the sweet pineapple and ham.(photo credits to www.davaocityguy.me)
Dark Choco Bun @ P55- the bun is not too sweet, the dark chocolate doesn’t over power the bread. Its good to pair it with coffee.
Aside from pastries & specialty breads, Cafe France also serves sandwhiches, pasta’s, salad’s, pastries and breakfast meals. As they are celebrating its 1st anniversary here in Davao, after opening their first branch in August last year. Customers are assured of good service and quality on their Cafe France dining experience.
